Acknowledgment of Country
Here at Erin's Learning Channel, we acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, we pay our respects to the Peoples, the Lore, plants, animals, waterways, our Elders, and each other. We encourage collaboration, learning, and professional relationships. It is in this acknowledgment that we showcase our love for Indigenous cultures and our love for learning in the old ways.

SERIES TWO - COMING SOON!
"Now more than ever", the 2024 Reconciliation Week slogan was very apt in my opinion. The statement is about the repatriation of Aboriginal Languages. There's so much information in every.single.word. The more languages we preserve the better!
Join us for a series of interviews with First Nations Elders and community members across QLD.
LAUNCHING SOON.

Deputy Principal - Springfield Central SHS
Thank you Erin for your presentation. You covered some hard topics that are so important and used humour to help us through. We appreciate you being here with us today and look forward to having you back.
Retired Teacher
Thank you Erin. I picked up the invitation through Benarrawa Community Centre and their Solidarity Group including a teachers group. I am no longer in the classroom with children, youth and adults as I was formerly. At this very time I needed to refresh my spirit as together with my Murri colleagues we are challenged in brokering two-way relating with adults and the Murri community. You were just what I needed.

Thank you for the time, effort and sharing of knowledge that you have put into your Winanga-Li Presentations. I love your honest and straight forward approach to these sessions and in helping to build my cultural understanding and capability. I appreciate that you have provided a 'safe place' to have open and honest conversations and for people to ask those awkward questions to clarify their own understanding.

Good Evening Erin, thank you so much for the effort you went to in giving me constructive feedback regarding my final assessment. It was very thorough and I really appreciate it very much. Academic writing is something I find challenging and the re-written examples and suggestions you gave, have been very helpful.
I really enjoyed being a student in your class and value your authenticity and personal Indigenous approaches to teaching. Thank you!

Erin is not just a friend and work colleague but an invaluable UniSQ asset. Her unique perspective as a First Nations educator and extensive experience in the justice sector brings the team a wealth of knowledge and understanding. One of Erin's many remarkable qualities is her unwavering dedication to making a positive impact, particularly within the incarcerated student community. Her encouragement and support to these students have been nothing short of inspiring. Erin goes above and beyond to ensure that each student receives an education and gains confidence, hope, and a sense of purpose. Her passion for education is contagious, evident in the transformative changes she brings to the lives of those she interacts with. I have witnessed firsthand the positive influence Erin has had on our students and our team. Her dedication to the cause of education and rehabilitation is unparalleled. I firmly believe that retaining Erin in her current role benefits her and UniSQ. She brings a unique perspective, a wealth of knowledge, and a heartful of compassion to our team, making her an indispensable friend, colleague and community member.
Lecturer - USQ College
Erin O’Donoghue has worked closely with UniSQ College over the past three months. In her capacity as Lecturer (First Nations Studies), Erin has been actively engaged in supporting incarcerated UniSQ students through visits to correctional centres. She has particularly been involved in working with students at the Southern Queensland Correctional Centre, which is a women’s prison. As many of these students are from First Nations backgrounds, Erin’s commitment to regular visits been particularly well received by students and staff in the centre. During these visits, Erin has engaged in a range of activities, including running First Nations knowledge workshops, facilitating sessions to help develop students’ communication, study, research and referencing skills, providing individual and group tutorial support for students, and providing information about the university’s Incarcerated Student Strategy to current and prospective students. Erin has undertaken these duties with enthusiasm and generosity, and her energetic and engaging approach to teaching has been heartily welcomed in the centre and has encouraged students to continue with their studies.

"We need to keep teaching Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, the raw histories. We need to keep giving voices to the once silenced. We need to keep honouring languages and cultural etiquette. But to make social change, we need to be 'stepping' into both the 'Murri' and 'Western' worlds together. At the same time. All the time.
This is my vision for achieving #truereconciliation in Australia. By teaching and coaching educators how to deliver their subjects and content, but in an Aboriginal way."
The Winanga-Li Teachers Program is a free self-paced online course purposed to improve teaching practices and individual cultural capabilities that align with the requirements of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Capability Framework.
